Note: The Convention on Wetlands came into force for the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on 28 July 1977. UNESCO informed the Ramsar Bureau that on 3 July 2001 the Federal Republic Yugoslavia accepted the Ramsar Convention as a successor State to the SFR of Yugoslavia, as of 27 April 1992. The country’s name was changed to Serbia and Montenegro as of 4 February 2003. Following the referendum of 21 May 2006, Montenegro and Serbia altered their constitutional arrangements. On 18 June 2007, Montenegro officially declared its succession to the Ramsar Convention as from 3 June 2006.
