This wetland is located in the West Sudanian savannah in southern Burkina Faso, and benefits from a wetter and cooler climate than the rest of the country, and its least disturbed forest formations due to the relatively low human population density of the region.
Croatia has now completed the process of updating the information on its five Wetlands of International Importance. They are very diverse, and feature coastal lakes, inland deltas and fishponds among other wetland habitats.
The new toolkit provides practical guidance and examples of how to conduct an inventory, including a systematic process and resources to support each recommendation. It also links NWI to SDG targets, including suggestions for building the case for the conservation and wise use of wetlands.
Mangroves de la Baie d’Ambaro covers over 54,000 hectares on the north-west coast. The Site is characterized by extensive mangrove stands where the forests meet the shoreline.
