Wetlands for the Future Fund - Invitation for Applications

12 septembre 2016

At a bilateral meeting during the IUCN Conservation Congress, Ambassador Judith Garber, Acting Assistant Secretary U.S Department of State and Martha Rojas-Urrego, Ramsar Secretary General renewed the Memorandum of Understanding for Wetland for the Future Fund, marking 20 years of collaboration to benefit Latin American and Caribbean institutions and individuals through capacity building and training in the conservation and wise use of wetlands.

The fund promotes the implementation of the concept of "wise use" of wetlands through strengthening the capacity of countries to manage their wetland resources in perpetuity and contributing to integrate wetland conservation and management with the development process. All proposed activities should be in line with the principles, recommendations and guidelines of the Ramsar Convention.

The call for applications for Wetlands for the Future projects for the 2016 cycle is now open. The advisory service is open until the 29 September 2016 and the deadline for the submission of proposals is 30 October.
