Nicolas Hulot will raise awareness in Africa for the implementation of the Ramsar Strategic Plan 2016-2024

During the UNFCCC COP21 in Paris (30 November - 12 December), Nicolas Hulot, Special Envoy of the French President for the Protection of the Planet, met with a few Ramsar National Focal Points from Africa and Paul Ouedraogo, Ramsar Secretariat Senior Advisor for Africa.

The discussion focused on partnering with the Ramsar Convention in order to showcase a few Ramsar Sites in Africa to demonstrate the importance of wise use concept and wetlands and communities resilience to climate change. Nicolas Hulot will visit two Ramsar Sites (one inland and one coastal) in Africa in 2016. He has also expressed his availability to be part of the Ramsar MOOC on the 4th Strategic Plan 2016-2024 in order to support its implementation.
