1 March 2021

The new guidance document on Mainstreaming gender under the Convention on Wetlands is now available.

The guidance provides Contracting Parties to the Convention with a series of key operational and practical entry points to enhance the mainstreaming of gender equality under the Convention, and presents several case studies on the value of taking a gender-sensitive approach to the wise use and management of wetlands. The document is available for download at https://www.ramsar.org/document/guidance-on-mainstreaming-gender-under-the-ramsar-convention-on-wetlands-0.

Resolution XIII.18 on Gender and wetlands, approved at the 13th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP13) in 2018, encourages the Parties to mainstream a gender perspective in their implementation of the Convention, and requests the production of guidance on the integration of gender issues in the implementation of the Convention.
