To present its Ramsar sites to a wide audience, France wanted to produce sites summaries in a simple and easy-to-access format. For each site, these summaries contain essential, easily readable and well-illustrated information.
The Ramsar France association, which steers the WWD in France, is publishing a summary document, translated into several languages, explaining the French organization and identifying the causes for the growing success of WWD in France over the past 10 years (2010-2020).
India has added two new “Ramsar Sites”, its 40th and 41st: Sur Sarovar in the State of Uttar Pradesh and Lonar Lake on the Deccan Plateau in Maharashtra State.
This wetland is located in the West Sudanian savannah in southern Burkina Faso, and benefits from a wetter and cooler climate than the rest of the country, and its least disturbed forest formations due to the relatively low human population density of the region.
Croatia has now completed the process of updating the information on its five Wetlands of International Importance. They are very diverse, and feature coastal lakes, inland deltas and fishponds among other wetland habitats.
