Information on activities that were held in the Prespa Park
on the occasion of the 2nd February 2004

Within the framework of the 2nd February - World Wetlands Day and the 4th anniversary of the establishment of Prespa Park, on behalf of the Prespa Park Coordination Committee (PPCC) through the project "Implementation of a Communication Plan for the Prespa Park", on 30.01.2004 in Korcha (Albania) a round table was organized with local journalists from the Prespa region.

During the meeting there were presentations about what is the 2nd February - World Wetlands Day; the Prespa Park initiative, the links between the news and environment, and the joint projects that are undertaken in the Prespa Park region up to now.

On 3rd February 2004, a press conference was held at the Ministry of Environment of Albania on the occasion of the World Wetlands Day. The PPCC member, Mr. Dedej, in his WWD presentation to the journalists from national media outlets made an announcement about the Prespa Park initiative and about the launching of the PDF B transboundary project.

Another activity organized on the occasion of the 2nd February was the drawing competition with the children schools of age 7-11, from the three countries: in Liqenas and Gorrice e Vogel in Albania, in Ag.Germanos in Greece and in Resen in the FYR of Macedonia. The topic of this drawing competition was "Our Prespa". After this competition there were proclaimed 3 winners from each country, and to them were given the relevant awards. The best selected pictures were collected and will be circulated to the three countries and some of them will also be used for other purposes (such as cards, calendar, T-shirts, etc). To children of this age group were distributed T-shirts, stickers with the Prespa Park logo, as well as posters, stickers and the leaflets of the Ramsar Convention: "From the mountains to the sea - Wetlands working for us".

The ceremony of the children's drawing competition in Ag. Germanos-Greece
