WORLD WETLANDS DAY

On the eve of the World Wetlands Day, the activists of the Childrens Alliance for the Protection of the Environment (CAPE) visited the Sukhna Wetland and put up a sign board requesting the visitors not to blow horn, and drive vehicles slowly as migratory birds were camping. They had carried placards written with slogans "Parvasi panchhi hamare mehmaan hain (Migratory birds are our guests); Mehmaan jo hamara hota hai, who jaan se pyaara hota hai…" (We treat our guests as our life companions); SAVE Wetlands, SAVE Life.

In addition, about 75 members of the Sparrow Eco-club of the Moti Ram Arya Senior Secondary School, Sector 27, Chandigarh visited the pond in the nature park and studied the flora and fauna of the pond. ESI President S.K.Sharma and Mr. Basu-deo Prasad of the Central Scientific Instrument Organisation (CSIO) delivered lectures on various aspects of wetlands conservation.
