Green Balkans Bulgaria plans for World Wetlands Day 2004

15.10.2003
Dear Ms. Valerie Higgins and all at the Bureau,
We welcome the Bureau's initiative to involve local NGOs, working for wetlands, in the campaign celebrating the World Wetland Day, by providing information materials in a form that could be published in local languages as well.
Congratulations for the wonderful choice of a motto for the campaign!
For more than 10 years, Green Balkans NGO Bulgaria has been working for the protection and restoration of wetlands in Bulgaria -- in the Danube river valley, along the Black sea coast and in the interior of the country. Our teams participate regularly in the midwinter monitoring of waterfowls in the country, organized by Wetlands International. More than 40 000 ha wetlands in Bulgaria are designated as protected areas as a result of Green Balkans' proposals. We implement programs for the conservation of rare and threatened waterfowl species and for the restoration of wetlands, as well as programs against poaching in wetlands, educational campaigns involving young people, including also annual Campaigns celebrating the World Wetland Day. More information is available on our website: www.greenbalkans.org.
In this regard, I would like to receive the package of materials, including also a CD with Quark Express files, which we will use in the campaign for 2 February.
The post address where you
can send them is:

Thank you very much in advance.
Sincerely yours,
