The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands
World Wetlands Day 2001: Czech Republic

Trebon, Czech Republic, 1st February 2001
Dear colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to send to you my warmest greetings from the Trebon Basin Protected Area and Biosphere Reserve as well as to congratulate you on the very important anniversary of the Ramsar Convention.
As you know well from your files, there are two Ramsar sites in Trebon region Trebon Fishponds and Trebon Peatlands. We are trying hard by various means to provide information and improve public awareness in this field. Our exhibitions and lectures on wetlands are visited particularly by school children and students.
This year´s exhibition on the occasion of the World Wetlands Day called The Ramsar Convention protects our wetlands 30th anniversary of Ramsar" is just being opened at the Trebon municipal library and it will be on display for one month. The visitors of this exhibition can learn more about the importance of wetlands, about the species of wetland flora and fauna, about Czech Ramsar sites as well as about the present state and problems of two Trebon sites. Both panels with texts and exhibition of photographs are used for the presentation. Information materials published by your Bureau (including the latest ones which we obtained from Dr. J. Chytil) are also displayed and one of the posters is devoted to Ramsar Convention web page.
The exhibition has been prepared in cooperation with the Czech Otter Foundation Frend that has its headquarters in Trebon.
Yours sincerely
Jana Jandová
