Partners for Wise Use of Wetlands
Focal Area B: Wise Use and Poverty Alleviation
CALL FOR PROPOSALS, 2002-2003
The Partners for Wise Use of Wetlands programme, started in 2001 with a first phase that led to 38 projects receiving funding (including Global Peatlands Initiative), from a programme fund provided to Wetlands International by the Directorate General of International Cooperation (DGIS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. We are pleased to announce a new phase running until December 31, 2003. A guidance document (see below) provides detailed information about the Partners for Wise Use of Wetlands programme.
Partner organisations, which include IUCN, WWF International, BirdLife International, Ramsar Convention Bureau and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, and other Eligible Organisations, are now invited to discuss project proposals that meet the criteria described below.
Funding: a minimum of Euro 40,000 up to a maximum of 150,000
Period of funding: qualifying activities running from the date of a grant agreement up to 31 December 2003
Application deadlines: the first deadline for submission to Wetlands International is 13 September 2002. Further submission deadines will be advertised on the Wetlands International website. Concepts can of course be submitted earlier for guidance and feedback before this date. How to propose qualifying activities:
Proposal Concepts should be discussed first with the appropriate regional focal point or country office of Wetlands International (see http://www.wetlands.org/aboutWI/officemap.htm). Proposal Concepts endorsed by the appropriate regional focal point or country office of Wetlands International will be considered by the Chief Executive for formal evaluation. Wetlands International will at its discretion seek advice from the members of the Global Steering Group before evaluating Concepts. Full proposals should only be submitted to Wetlands International by invitation of the Chief Executive, after Concepts have been approved.
