Wetlands International AEME gets a new Executive Director
Appointment of Dr Phillip Edwards as Executive Director
On behalf of the regional Council of Wetlands International (Africa, Europe, Middle East), I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Phillip Edwards as our new Executive Director. Dr Edwards replaces Dr Mike Moser, who is leaving Wetlands International after almost 11 years service to take up a new career direction based in the United Kingdom.
Dr Edwards is a UK
national. He is an ecologist and environmental manager with substantial international and
UK experience in the development and commercial sectors. He gained a First Class Honours
Degree from University College Swansea, and a D.Phil. from Oxford University. Dr Edwards
founded his own international consulting company in 1986, and comes with an impressive
track record and experience spanning 48 countries on four continents, and more than 15
years experience in wetlands and environmental issues.
Dr Edwards was instrumental in founding the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) and has been elected a Fellow of the IEEM for his contribution to innovation through establishing new partnerships for ecological professionalism.
He will start work at our regional headquarters in Wageningen on 22 February 1999, and I hope will meet many of our key partners and collaborators in the coming months. I am sure you will join me in wishing him every success in this post.
Dr Geoff Cowan
Chair of Regional Council
