STRP's 12th meeting to be deferred a bit
Change of dates of the 12th meeting of the Scientific and Technical Review Panel
Dear STRP members and observers,
Important notice to all STRP members and observers:
Change of dates of the 12th meeting of the Scientific and Technical Review Panel
Following decisions by the 30th meeting of the Ramsar Standing Committee concerning the dates of its 31st meeting and of COP9, and after discussion with the Chair of the STRP, Max Finlayson, it has been agreed to postpone the next full plenary meeting of the STRP from December 2004. The 12th meeting of STRP will now take place from 1-4 February 2005. As before, the meeting will take place in the Ramsar/IUCN offices in Gland, Switzerland.
I would be grateful if all STRP members and observers could register these new dates in their diaries.
By delaying the 12th meeting of STRP to February 2005, the STRP Chair believes that this will provide the Panel and its Working Groups the maximum amount of time to complete their tasks for transmission to the 31st meeting of the Standing Committee and COP9. It will also permit time prior to the Panel meeting for members and observers to review the draft Ramsar Synthesis Report being prepared as part of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessments contribution to the Ramsar Convention. It is anticipated that the draft of this report will become available for review in early December 2004.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
