Course: - a contribution to the CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas

to 22nd October 2007,
Background: In many countries, the inscription of wetlands under the Ramsar Convention is an important contribution to nature conservation. At the same time, a high responsibility for the state party is implied by the increased international reputation gained by the designation as Ramsar site. Contracting parties of the Ramsar Convention become responsible for the effective management of these sites. The development and application of management plans are an important means to ensure the protection of sites for present and future generations and is a contribution to the implementation of the CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas.

Attached please find the preliminary programme of the training. Our trainers will be Tobias Salathé from the Ramsar Secretariat and Stephan Amend, a specialist on management plan issues. They will be happy to work with your specific contexts in numerous working groups which will complement the theoretical sessions of our course.
Target group of the seminar are Ramsar site managers and staff as well as STRP of Central, Southern and Eastern Europe. The course language will be English.

Costs will be ca. 300 € for board and accommodation on Vilm. You may indicate in the registration form if you would like to apply for financial support by BfN.
