joined the Secretariat in 2007
Monica graduated in Natural Sciences and Nature Conservation from the University of Bologna. She has recently concluded a one-year work project in Jordan sponsored by the European Community, which is aimed at promoting sustainable management of marine resources in the Gulf of Aqaba. Monica has also worked as an environmental educator for WWF Italy, has visited Ramsar sites in Senegal, and has volunteered in national parks in Costa Rica. In 2004, when she was working as an intern at the Italian Permanent Mission in Geneva, she had the opportunity to study international agreements and environmental policy issues.
