Lived in Thailand for 15 years; undergraduate studies at Clark University (Massachusetts, USA), graduate studies at London School of Economics and Political Science (UK). Intern at Winrock International Institute for Agricultural Development in Manila, Philippines; conducted research on the socioeconomic and institutional problems of landless farmers in the upland forests of Zambales. Interests lie in urbanisation and the environment, international environmental policy, and community-based natural resource management, particularly with regard to wetland and water issues in river basin development schemes. Working languages: Bengali, English, Hindi, Urdu, and French (intermediate).
