Ahmed has a "Diplôme d'Etudes Professionnelles Approfondies" D.E.P.A. (MSc) in Environmental Management in 2001 from Senghor University (the International University in French for African Development, www.usenghor-francophonie.org) in Alexandria, Egypt; a Bachelor degree of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University, Mai 1995; as well as a post graduate diploma of English translation, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University in 1999. He worked with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment on a GEF/UNDP project on conservation and sustainable use of medicinal plants in arid and semi arid lands in Egypt. He also worked as a volunteer with the Egyptian Environment Affairs Agency (EEAA), Nature Conservation Sector (NCS) for two years. He has previously gained experience in wetlands management, as well as in Ramsar Site designation, during his MSc practical training in surveys and field research for compiling the Ramsar Information Sheet with the French Ministry of Environment and Landscape in Montpellier. He is fluent in French and English besides his mother tongue Arabic.
