![]() |
In line with the Ministry of Educations call to implement environmental education across the curriculum, Wetlands International recently co-produced* a Tasek Bera Wetland Education Kit. The kit was designed with a specific target audience in mind - the primary schools in the area of Tasek Bera, the only lake in Malaysia and its first Ramsar site. It consists of five learning modules for the classroom - covering Flood control and water supply, Fish and fishing methods, Recreation and tourism, Biodiversity, Source of natural products - as well as a story book, videotape, cassette tape and a board game. The entire kit is designed for use in the classroom and is available in English and Bahasa Malaysia, the national language.
Funding for the production of the kit was provided by the Danish Cooperation for Environment and Development. The kit is an output of the Integrated Management of Tasek Bera Project, initiated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment and the Pahang State Government. *The Tengku Ampuan Afzan Teacher's College, the Bera District Education Office and Wetlands International cooperated to produce the kit. For further information contact Wetlands International - Asia Pacific at wiap@wiap.nasionet.net.
