Recent improvements of the online Ramsar Sites Information Service (RSIS)

Recent improvements of the online Ramsar Sites Information Service (RSIS, rsis.ramsar.org):

1.      Enhancement of usability of the online Ramsar Information Sheets (RIS) in the password-protected section of the RSIS:

·        Additional textboxes and increased character limit on various sections

·        Ability to open and make changes on previously locked sections without Secretariat’s intervention

·        Ability to download an offline RIS in Word format including the comments made on the online RIS

·        Grouping species into phyla in the animals tables: “Birds”, “Fish”, “Mollusc and Crustacean” and “Others”

2.      Enhancement of visibility of key data to the public:

·        A new descriptive box for transboundary sites (see e.g. https://rsis.ramsar.org/ris/1611)

·        A more attractive layout of the RIS in PDF format

·        A new rich PDF document of selected sites available via the Export tab (see “PDF file with introductory text on each site” here  https://rsis.ramsar.org/ris-search/?pagetab=3)

3.      Enhanced integration with ramsar.org website:

·        Automatic synchronisation of countries’ Ramsar sites’ summaries available on the country profile pages on ramsar.org (see link “View an annotated summary of the Site” e.g. here http://www.ramsar.org/wetland/sweden)

·        Automatic update of the official Ramsar site list (www.ramsar.org/search?f[]=field_document_type%3A424)

4.      Enhanced data export and analysis functions to:

·        Produce statistics for papers like the SC53-18 Update on the status of Sites on the List of Wetlands of International Importance
