We are pleased to unveil the logo of the 12th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP12) that will take place in Punta del Este, Uruguay, from 1 to 9 June 2015.
Developed by the Government of Uruguay, the logo offers a glimpse of the rich biodiversity of the country’s wetlands. It depicts the capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris), the largest rodent in the world and a species dependent on wetlands such as lakes, rivers and ponds; the emblematic great egret (Egretta alba), a large heron with white plumage; and typha (Typha subulata), a plant typical of freshwater marshes and mudflats.
The sun and the blue waves recall the Uruguayan flag. The sun also symbolizes the future, linking to the theme of COP12 “Wetlands for our future”.
Contracting Parties and Ramsar Partners may use the COP12 logo in electronic and printed form in the context of the preparations for the Conference of the Parties.
The use of the logo is only authorized for non-commercial purposes. The logo, including its proportions, colours and all elements including the white border must not be altered in any manner. It should be used preferably on a white background.
Three language versions (English, Spanish and French) are available. Descriptions of the event in other languages should also use one of these three versions, explaining the meaning as necessary in the text.
