Ramsar-related Recommendations of the World Parks Congress, Durban, September 2003

The Vth IUCN World Parks Congress was held in Durban, South Africa, from 8 to 17 September 2003, and Ramsar's Secretary General Peter Bridgewater participated as leader of the "stream" on Linkages in the Landscape and Seascape. All of the WPC's 32 Recommendations are available on the IUCN Web site, http://www.iucn.org/themes/wcpa/wpc2003/english/outputs/recommendations.htm, but those from the Linkages stream bear a particularly strong relevance to the Ramsar community, and those six have been reprinted here. The full report and other outputs of the WPC stream on Linkages in the Landscape and Seascape are also available on the Web site of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM), http://www.iucn.org/themes/cem/linkages.htm.

Note: The final editing of these recommendations is still in progress as of 1 November 2003. Official versions will be posted here at the end of that process.
