The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) presents its compliments and has the honour to refer to the following:

The Ramsar Bureau is pleased to announce that the Standing Committee, at its recent meeting, approved the creation of a new post of Development Assistance Officer at the Ramsar Bureau. The aim of this new post is not to raise funds for projects to be managed by the Convention secretariat, but rather to generate a more significant flow of resources for wetland conservation and sustainable use towards developing countries and countries with economies in transition through existing channels. The vacancy announcement and application form is attached.

The Ramsar Bureau would be grateful if the Administrative Authority of the Convention in each Contracting Party could assist in publicizing this vacancy and in encouraging potential candidates with the required qualifications to apply, by the deadline of 29 February 2000.

The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands respectfully requests that the content of the present Note be communicated to the competent national authorities and avails itself of this opportunity to renew the assurance of its highest consideration.
