The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) presents its compliments and has the honour to refer to the following:

The Ramsar Bureau is pleased to forward a summary of the minutes of the 7^th meeting of the Scientific and Technical Review Panel, which took place in Gland, Switzerland, on 22-23 April 1998. The summary includes advice and decisions on a number of important issues in the preparations for the 7^th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties in San José, Costa Rica, in May 1999.

The STRP minutes, in English, and the summaries in English, French, and Spanish were posted to the Ramsar Web site in May 1998. The Bureau regrets that, through an oversight, this document was not communicated to the Contracting Parties earlier than the present date.

The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands respectfully requests that the content of the present Note be communicated to the competent national authorities and avails itself of this opportunity to renew the assurance of its highest consideration.
