Designation of the new Secretary General of the Convention

The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) presents its compliments to the Permanent Mission of ... and has the honour to refer to the following:

The Ramsar Secretariat is pleased to announce that Mr. Anada Tiéga has been selected to succeed Dr. Peter Bridgewater as Secretary General of the Convention when Dr. Bridgewater's contract ends on 31 July 2007.

A copy of the message from the Chair of the Ramsar Convention Standing Committee announcing the appointment of Mr. Tiéga is attached for further information.

The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands respectfully requests that the content of the present note be communicated to the competent national authorities and avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Permanent Mission of ... the assurance of its highest consideration.
