Short-listed candidates for position of Secretary General
of the Ramsar Convention

The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) presents its compliments and has the honour to refer to the following:

At the request of the First Selection Panel of the Standing Committee, the Ramsar Bureau is pleased to advise the Contracting Parties that the following candidates have been short- listed for the position of Secretary General of the Convention:

The members of the Second Selection Panel will interview these candidates on 24 and 25 February 2003, prior to the 29th Meeting of the Standing Committee which will be held from 26 to 28 February 2003. The Panel shall make recommendations to the Standing Committee which, in principle, should take a decision concerning the designation of the new Secretary General.

The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands respectfully requests that the content of the present Note be communicated to the competent national authorities and avails itself of this opportunity to renew the assurance of its highest consideration.
