The last
three documents for Ramsar COP8
The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) presents its compliments and has the honour to refer to the following:
The Ramsar Bureau is pleased to attach three important documents for Ramsar COP8:
-- COP8 DOC. 6 - Report of the Secretary General pursuant to Article 8.2 (b), (c), and (d) concerning the List of Wetlands of International Importance, in which the Secretary General reports the changes that have occurred in the List since Ramsar COP7 (additions, deletions and changes in ecological character).
-- COP8 DOC. 7 - Report of the Secretary General on the results of the World Summit on Sustainable Development of relevance to the Convention on Wetlands, in which the Secretary General conveys his views on the results of the Summit and on how the Convention could respond to them.
-- COP8 DR 26 - The implementation of the Strategic Plan 2003-2008 during the triennium 2003-2005 and National Reports for Ramsar COP9. This is the Bureau proposal to the Conference Committee on the text of a draft resolution on what should constitute the Convention's work plan in the next triennium.
Copies of these three documents are being sent to the heads of the delegations that have registered for the COP by 30 October 2002, with a request to provide copies to the other members of his/her delegation. Delegates and observers can also download the documents from the Ramsar web site. Hard copies will be available at the COP.
The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands respectfully requests that the content of the present Note be communicated to the competent national authorities and avails itself of this opportunity to renew the assurance of its highest consideration.
