Notification 2002/10
Amendments to the Convention
The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) presents its compliments and has the honour to refer to the following:
The Ramsar Bureau wishes to inform Contracting Parties that in response to the Diplomatic Notification 2002/2 of 22 January 2002, entitled "A request to initiate the process to amend the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat", the Bureau has received replies from 24 Contracting Parties, of which 12 have specifically requested the convening of an extraordinary meeting of the Conference of the Parties to consider the proposed amendments.
Since not enough Parties have requested the convening of an extraordinary meeting of the COP to consider the proposed amendments, as required by Article 10 bis of the Convention, the Bureau understands that the issue is now dropped.
The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands respectfully requests that the content of the present Note be communicated to the competent national authorities and avails itself of this opportunity to renew the assurance of its highest consideration.
