Sponsored Delegates

Fourteen countries contributed funds through the Bureau for sponsoring delegate travel, and a total of 160 representatives of 67 Contracting Parties and 23 Observer States were able to participate through this means. Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, as well as WWF International, joined together to reach a total amount for sponsored delegates of 672,613 Swiss francs. In addition, the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade provided direct assistance to delegates from the Pacific Island nations.
