10th Living Lakes Conference . . . An Invitation (31/03/05)

You are cordially invited to the 10th Living Lakes Conference which is going to be held at the Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City, Philippines on 17-18 May 2005. The Conference theme - "The Lake and its People: Responsible Stewardship by Lake Communities" is centered on the interaction between the lake and its people and is focused on how communities in densely populated lake regions seek a balance between complex resource uses and sustainable development. The Conference will explore the role that communities play as responsible stewards of lake ecosystems in densely populated areas.

The Annual Conference provides the opportunity for the host Lake to showcase local and international conservation efforts and gain insights from among the many experiences of the Living Lakes Network members and other concerned individuals all over the world.

The Living Lakes Network actively solicits membership from wetlands all over the world, thus, it opens the Conference to interested participants from government agencies, local government units, non-government organizations, business, academe and media who could gain from the sharing of experiences in lake management.

The Conference is hosted by the Global Nature Fund and the CLEAR (Conservation of Laguna de Bay's Environment and Resources), a tripartite partnership of the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands (NGO), Laguna Lake Development Authority (government) and Unilever Philippines (industry).
