Developing a resource pack for visitor centres (23/09/04)
Good morning everyone:
Can anyone on the list help here?
Louise Ryan, a Heritage Consultant based in Ireland, is working with 'Friends of Coole, a small group in Galway, Ireland, assisting Galway County Council (the local authority) in the development of Coole Park, a Nature Reserve owned by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. The site is of special cultural significance having been a source of inspiration to many famous writers and artists in the past who visited Coole regularly and were inspired by the landscape. Louise is particularly interested in any advice / information / effective materials / useful contacts to help them develop a resource pack for primary schools - including worksheets, timelines, activities, trails etc - for use in the visitor centre at the site. They hope to link the natural and cultural heritage of the site and to create awareness and appreciation of the heritage in a 'hands-on', experiential learning type experience, so we would be particularly interested in information from natural sites that have a literary or cultural history and tradition. Please contact Louise directly at pilotstudy@eircom.net.
Best wishes,
Sandra Hails, Ramsar Secretariat
