Senior Advisor / Asia-Pacific post deferred (23/11/07)

Greetings. The Ramsar Secretariat is sorry to have to report that the post of Senior Regional Advisor for the Asia-Pacific will remain unfilled for some while longer. The successfully recruited candidate who was announced here on 3 October 2007, and who had signed his contract to join the Secretariat at the beginning of December, has decided to annul that contract and remain with WWF International. A new search for the position will be announced in the coming days.

It is important to emphasize, however, that the Asia Regional Meeting in preparation for COP10, set for 14-18 January 2008 in Bangkok, Thailand, will proceed as scheduled and will be led by Mr Anada Tiéga, the Secretary General; Tobias Salathé, the Senior Advisor for Europe; Ms Pragati Tuladhar, Assistant Advisor for the Asia-Pacific; and the Vice-Chair of the STRP, Ms Rebecca D'Cruz, a former Ramsar regional officer for Asia.

Best wishes, the Ramsar Secretariat
