Grant for US National Ramsar Committee (25/10/07)
Greetings everyone:
Some good news from Suzanne Pittenger-Slear, the Ramsar CEPA NGO Focal Point in the USA, who has written to say that their Ramsar Administrative Authority, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, has awarded a grant of US$ 99,400 to the US National Ramsar Committee, a largely NGO body. Suzanne, President of Environmental Concern and a member of this committee writes: "The grant funds will be made available to support the designation of US Ramsar Sites and to promote Wetlands Communication, Education, and Public Awareness programs and initiatives associated with current U.S.
Environmental Concern (EC), the first wetland-focused non-profit organization in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, will be administering the grant on behalf of the Committee. In addition, Suzanne has noted that EC will be developing a National CEPA Plan as part of the grant conditions.

I look forward to sharing some news through the CEPA list of how the funds are being used.
With best wishes, Sandra Hails, Ramsar Secretariat
