Wetland CEPA forum set for China (14/06/06)

Good morning everyone:

The State Forestry Administration of People's Republic of China has informed the Secretariat that it will be hosting the 2nd Wetland Forum in Xixi National Wetland Park in Hangzhou city, the capital of Zhejiang Province, from October 19 to 22, 2006. With the Forum theme of Wetland Parks – Wetland CEPA, the co-organisers, the Hangzhou Municipal Government and Zhejiang Provincial Forestry Department, will be covering at least the following three aspects: Planning and designing of wetland parks; Development and management of wetland parks; Education and public dissemination on wetland parks. Wetland park managers, wetland CEPA experts, and wetland scientists are invited to attend the forum and to submit an abstract if interested in making a presentation. Further details are available here http://www.ramsar.org/wn/w.n.china_hangzhou_cepa2006a.pdf.

My thanks to Mr Yan Chenggao of the Ramsar Convention Implementing Office within the State Forestry Adminsitration for letting the Secretariat know about this important CEPA event on wetland centres. Hope some of you will be able to attend and that you will pass this information to interested colleagues.

With best wishes, Sandra Hails, Ramsar Secretariat
