Visitors to the Secretariat and invited experts at Ramsar meetings have often remarked that the common discourse amongst Ramsar initiates is pretty much impenetrable to newcomers. Here, then, is a dictionary of acronyms and technical jargon in regular use among all those people who, from desire or necessity, feel called upon to discuss Ramsar issues, at the dinnertable and otherwise. Your suggestions for additions and improvements will be welcomed.
