Kafue Flats: Lochinvar & Blue Lagoon. 28/08/91; Southern Province; 83,000 ha; 16º00S 027º15E. National Parks. Two national parks consisting of marsh and swamp floodplains, termitaria (grassland), woodland zones, and geothermal areas, separated and within the vast Kafue Flats game area. The site is a conservation area for indigenous and endemic flora and fauna, including globally threatened cranes. The wetlands provide water for hydroelectric power generation, irrigation, fisheries, industrial and urban use. Human benefits include a fishery, wildlife production, and livestock grazing. Ramsar site no. 530.
