World Wetlands Day 2001: India

HAPPY NEW YEAR GREETINGS FROM PALLISHREE.

You will be happy to know that we are going to observe WWD-2001 with the collaboration of Chilika Development Authority, Bhubaneswar. We had a meeting in this regard with Mr. A.K. Pattnaik, Chief Executive, CDA, Bhubaneswar on 4th January, 2001. We have planned to observe it in three well known and big wetlands in our state. The programme are as follows.

1. Chilika lagoon (Ramsar Site)

A Boat Rally with 500 boats with a participants of at least 5000 which will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Governor of Orissa, India. Representatives and wetland experts of RCJ, Japan will be participated.

2. Ansupa Lake (Largest Fresh water lake in Orissa)

Meetings will be arranged in the following schools around the Ansupa lake.

I. Higher secondary schools - 3 nos - 600 students & 20 teachers
ii. Middle English Schools - 7 nos - 500 students & 15 teachers
iii. College - 1 nos - 500 students & 10 lecturers
iv. Non Formal Education Centres - 17 nos. - 500 students & 17 teacers,

3. Vitara Kanika (Proposed Ramsar Site)

Meetings will be arranged in the following schools in the Vitara Kanika sanctuary area.

I. Higher Secondary schools - 2 nos - 500 students & 15 teachers
ii. Middle English Schools - 5 nos - 350 students & 10 teachers
iii.Upper Primary schools - 10 nos - 500 students & 30 teachers

In this occasion we are preparing a kit to distribute among the participants. So we are in need of posters, stickers to distribute. We will be obliged if you can provide us the adequate quantity of materials considering the above participants.
