SG Anada Tiéga will attend the second session of the plenary meeting that will determine the modalities and institutional arrangements for the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). This meeting will take place in Panama from 16-21 April 2012. Prior to the Plenary meeting he will take part in the second IPBES Stakeholder Day that will be held on 15 April 2012 in Panama. Lew Young, Senior Regional Advisor for Asia-Oceania will be in Thailand, Myanmar and Bangladesh from 30 January to 11 February. In Myanmar, he will be attending the World Wetlands Day celebrations and a workshop to prepare for the designation of the country’s second Ramsar Site. In Bangladesh and Thailand, he will be meeting with the Ramsar Administrative Authority and other partners to update them on the preparations for COP11 and other national implementation issues. Maria Rivera, Senior Regional Advisor for the Americas will be in Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, Mexico on 31 January and 1 February, taking part in a course on Tourism and Wetlands organised by CONANP and the Carmen University for protected area managers, government officials and the academia.
