Abou assures us that "While there, I will make sure that we collaborate with Ramsar for the wise use of the marine and coastal wetlands of these sub-regions of Africa.

The Secretariat wishes Abou every success in his new position, and will certainly continue to work closely with the Abidjan Convention on the many subjects of mutual concern.

Greetings. After 6 years as Senior Advisor for the Africa Region, Abou Bamba is heading back to Africa. He will be in charge of the UNEP Convention for Cooperation in the Protection and Development of the Marine and Coastal Environment of the West, Central and Southern African Region (Abidjan Convention). The position is under the UNEP Environmental Policy Division (DEPI).
