Reminder: nominations for the Ramsar Wetland Conservation Award

Dear List members:

The Ramsar Awards 2012 will be given in each of three categories: “Management”, “Wetland Science”, and “Education”.  If you know a person, an organization or an initiative that meets the criteria, do not hesitate to send nomination(s).  We also count on you to disseminate this call widely, so as to attract as many quality nominations as possible.

The three winners of the fifth edition of the Ramsar Awards for wetland conservation will be invited to receive their prize at the opening of the 11th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties, which will take place in Bucharest, Romania, in June 2012.

The Ramsar Awards were established in 1996 in order to recognize and honour the contributions of individuals, organizations and governments around the world towards promoting the conservation and wise use of wetlands.

Complete nominations must reach the Ramsar Secretariat by 31 May 2011 at the latest.
