Reports on two CEPA training/workshop initiatives (27/10/06)

Good afternoon everyone:

Here are two reports recently posted on our web site illustrating CEPA in action.

1. Do fish producers annoy nature conservationists? Do nature conservationists annoy fish producers? Apparently yes! Finding solutions to help fish producers and conservationists deal with their differences was the purpose of a training seminar in the Trebon Basin Landscape Protected Area in the Czech Republic where two Ramsar sites are located, the Trebon fishponds and the Trebon peatlands. Jointly organized by the Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic and the Wetland Training Centre operating as part of the NGO ENKI, this seminar ran from 16-18th October. 2. Nearly 100 participants from 8 Asian countries came together in Viet Nam in the seaside town of Nha Trang, close to the Hon Mun Marine Protected Area (MPA), for a workshop on education for marine and coastal wetlands. Sponsored by IUCN and the Vietnam Ministry of Fisheries, the International Workshop on Marine and Coastal Wetlands: Education Network, Capacity Building, and Training took place from 30 August to 1 September 2006. A key area of discussion was the creation of a network of marine and coastal wetland educators to promote the conservation of marine and coastal wetland ecosystems through CEPA action.
