Communication tools for awareness campaigns (18/07/06)
Good morning everyone:
Here’s a something I came across quite some time ago but just never quite got around to talking about it. It’s a number of web pages on the web site of Collins Associates, a Canadian-based consulting firm specializing in communications related to health and environmental issues. In collaboration with the Global Water Partnership, they developed a series of Web pages to help organisers in their preparations for World Water Day in 2003. Focused on ideas for water awareness campaigns, the organisers intend these pages to be a useful resource for all kinds of organisers including:
Professionals in the water sector who have realized the importance of public awareness.
People working on water publicity campaigns and educational programs who want to know both what is going on in other initiatives and what material and resources are already available.
Small and large NGO groups trying to find ways to expand their reach and incorporate new ideas.
Organizations looking for partners to start new initiatives with.
Policy makers who want to glance into the public awareness side of the water sector.
Arranged in 11 separate chapters such as Planning Awareness Campaigns, Involving the Corporate and Nonprofit sectors, Organising Public Events etc., there’s something for everyone. Most chapters consist of an introduction to the topic followed by ideas from different initiatives, and there’s an initiatives chapter with links to further information and contact details of organisers.
