WLI-Asia inter-school programme on wetland conservation - final report available (15/05/08)

Greetings CEPA list members:

Quite some time ago I reported on a WLI-Asia (Wetland Link International) initiative involving student projects at a number of wetland centres in Asia (see our CEPA news item here caxref:703).

Sunny Chow from the Hong Kong Wetland Park has sent the message and weblink below to report on the outcome of this initiative. Have a look!

Best regards, Sandra Hails, Ramsar Secretariat

Dear all,

I would like to share with you that the WLI-Asia Inter-school Education Programme on Wetland Conservation has been completed on 26 April 2008 with the award and presentation conference held at Hong Kong Wetland Park. Nine wetland centres from 7 countries/regions in Asia had submitted 23 student projects for online discussion and the best team from each centre was invited to attend the presentation conference.

At the conference, experts from wetland centres, students and teachers shared their wetland studies and local experience with counterparts from different regions. Participants also had the opportunity to tour around Hong Kong Wetland Park guided by Hong Kong student guides and HSBC wetland volunteer guides.

Highlights of the programme can be found on "What's New" section of the WLI-Asia website: http://www.wli-asia.org/en/WhatsNewDetail.asp?uid=17

I would like to thank again those who actively participated. Your support is key to the success of the programme.
