Upcoming training courses (18/04/05)
Good morning everyone:
Here are three training courses that may be of interest to you or your colleagues.
1. Integrated Water Resource management
The first session of the five week course on integrated water resource management organised jointly by the Swedish Development Agency under the Ramboll Natura AB scheme (http://www.rambollnatura.se/homepage/index.shtml), the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) (http://www.siwi.org/ ) and the International Water Management Institute (http://www.iwmi.cgiar.org/) is scheduled to take place in Sweden, August 29th - September 16th 2005. A two week follow-up session is planned to take place in November 2005, in South Africa. This training programme is aimed at decision and policy makers in water resource management and investment, subject-matter specialists involved in planning, implementation and management of IWRM related projects both in public and private sector, members of national and international NGOs in the areas of natural resource management, water and environment and staff at universities and training institutes. The closing date for application is April 22, 2005.

2. MSc - Programme on the Management of Protected Areas
Planning, developing and managing protected areas are complex tasks. A new course of studies at the University of Klagenfurt offers a unique possibility to acquire the relevant skills. The programme is developed and provided in cooperation with international organisations, one of them the Ramsar Convention. The whole programme is designed to meet the needs of participants currently working in companies and institutions. Thus, the course schedule is highly concentrated in nine blocks requiring 3 to 10 days of attendance. The course starts in September 2005 and the deadline for applications is July 30th. 3. Interactive training on River basin Restoration
An Interactive Training on River Basin Restoration, based on the European Water Framework Directive and Natura 2000, will be held from 19 September to 7th October 2005 in Lelysatd, The Netherlands. Designed for professionals dealing with water and nature management who are involved in river basin restoration or management, participants may come from any EU member state or non-European country. The training will focus on making a feasible and integrated restoration plan for (part of) a river basin, by an interactive method. Beside lectures and case studies, the training will pay attention to interaction and learning from each other's knowledge and experience.
