Greetings CEPA list members:

The CEPA list includes a small number of environmental journalists but I am sure that many other list members work regularly with journalists and will therefore have some interest in this message, especially those living in developing countries; please pass it on to journalist friends/colleagues.

"Climate change will disproportionately impact developing nations, yet journalists from these countries rarely have the resources to attend the intergovernmental negotiations aimed at tackling the problem," says James Fahn, Global Director of Internews' Earth Journalism Network and one of the partners in the Climate Change Media Partnership.

To help remedy this situation, the Climate Change Media Partnership (Internews, Panos, the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), along with numerous regional groups) is offering forty fellowships to journalists to give them skills training and access to world class experts on climate change thus enhancing their knowledge and improving their capacity to raise awareness of climate change issues within their own countries. The training takes place over several months leading up to and including the Copenhagen climate summit in December of this year.

The deadline for filing fellowship applications is midnight UK time (BST) on World Environment Day, 5 June.

Further information including application forms are available here http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=cX9w8ID8c7MXH8bAgMwBPg_3d_3d

Please note that this is not a Ramsar initiative so please DO NOT REPLY TO THE RAMSAR SECRETARIAT OR THIS LIST WITH APPLICATIONS OR REQUESTS FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.

For further information on the fellowships please contact Rod Harbinson, Head of Environment Programme (rod.harbinson@panos.org.uk).
