The Americas team Maria Rivera and Nury Furlan, are attending the IX meeting of the High Andean Regional Initiative, hosted by the Chilean Ministries of Environment and Foreign Affairs in Santiago de Chile and San Pedro de Atacama from 18-24 November. Then Maria Rivera will attend a meeting on coastal wetlands with the Ministry of the Environment and the private sector in Valparaiso from 25 to 26 November. She will then attend the 3rd meeting of La Plata River Basin Regional Initiative organised by the Uruguayan Ministry of the Environment in Montevideo from 3 to 6 December. [19/11/12]

Paul Ouédraogo, Senior Regional Advisor for Africa will be preparing and facilitating the planning workshop of wetlands and urbanisation project in West Africa from 14 to 23 November in Dakar, Senegal. This workshop will bring together 10 West African countries (Benin, Burkina, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo); ECOWAS; UN-Habitat; Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and the Ramsar Convention Secretariat to develop the logical framework of the project initiated by the African Team of the Ramsar Secretariat.
