Vacancy for Senior Advisor for Africa Region position at Ramsar Secretariat
Greetings. This position vacancy was advertised earlier this year, but we have decided to re-open the online application in the hope of casting the net wider. If you previously applied for the post, it is not necessary to apply again as all applications have been saved.
A very important requirement of this post is the ability to communicate fluently in both English and French, both written and spoken. We realize that this disqualifies many otherwise qualified candidates, but with 24 Ramsar Contracting Parties in the region that use French as their language of international communication and 22 using English (and one Spanish!), we must insist on this in order to work effectively with our African Parties to the Convention.
The other prime consideration is that the applicant be a citizen of an African country and also have worked for the major part of his/her career in environmental issues in the region.
If you know of a professional person with a background in environmental sciences, especially with experience with wetlands, and who fills the criteria above, please inform him or her of this opportunity to work at the Ramsar Secretariat.
