The Ramsar Regional Center names its first Executive Director (18/06/07)

Hello CEPA list members:

The Ramsar Regional Center for Training and Research on Wetlands in Western and Central Asia (RRC-CWA) has been endorsed as a Ramsar regional initiative – so it enjoys a similar status to that of CREHO, the centre delivering training and capacity building in the neotropical region for the Convention. We are pleased to announce that the Collaborative Management Board of the RRC-CWA has recently appointed Ms.Yasaman Rajabkhah as the first Executive Director of the centre.

Yasaman, a member of this elist, is an Iranian citizen and has a university degree in Natural Resources Engineering / Environment from Azad University in Tehran. She has been the national focal point for the Ramsar Convention at the Department of Environment of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the past five years, and has also been the CEPA Government Focal Point for several years. In addition, she has been working within the region for the initial development of the regional initiative since 2005. Congratulations Yasaman! (If you would like to get in touch with Yasaman, please contact her at yasaman_rajabkhah@yahoo.com.)

The Web site of the Regional Centre for West and Central Asia can be seen at http://www.ramsarcenter-cwa.org/ and you can see a photo of Yasaman on the Convention's web site here http://www.ramsar.org/index_bulletin.htm.

With best wishes, Sandra Hails, Ramsar Secretariat
