Dear WLI e-group members,
Invitation to the WLI-Asia Inter-school Education Programme
on Wetland Conservation
In the First Wetland Link International Asia Symposium held at the Hong Kong Wetland Park (HKWP) in January 2007, we were delighted to hear about a lot of Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) initiatives undertaken by numerous wetland centres in the region. To take a step further, HKWP would like to invite you to join the WLI-Asia Inter-school Education Programme on Wetland Conservation later this year to promote wetland conservation to the community with an international perspective.
In this programme, WLI-Asia network can be leveraged to enhance cross-country collaboration in wetland conservation education. Participating wetland centres within WLI-Asia will oversee the programme among their own network of schools and provide support where necessary.
It is proposed that centres will invite students from secondary schools to undertake study projects related to the ecological, economical and cultural aspects of wetlands for a period of 8-12 weeks. Project reports short-listed by each wetland centre will be posted on the WLI-Asia website for sharing and further discussion across the network. To conclude the findings, the best project teams will be invited to the award presentation and conference to be held in HKWP in April 2008. Schools, as well as their corresponding wetland centres, will be encouraged to exchange information and explore opportunities for future collaboration. Please find attached details about the programme for your reference.
If your wetland centre is interested in joining this regional inter-school education programme, please kindly return the form in the attached document to me before 17 September 2007. Do feel free to contact me for any questions. You are also welcome to visit our new WLI-Asia website at http://www.wli-asia.org/
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
