KODOMO Ramsar (04/10/05)

Dear Everyone:

Here’s a message from Reiko Nakamura of the Ramsar Centre Japan (RCJ) who has news of an exciting RCJ initiative for COP9. Read on!

Best regards, Sandra Hails, Ramsar Secretariat

********************************************************

Ramsar Center Japan (RCJ) is planning to organize a CEPA project "KODOMO Ramsar" in Uganda as a complementary activity for the 9th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar COP9) with the support of Japan Fund for Global environment (JGFE) in November 2005. For your information, “Kodomo” means a child (or children) in Japanese.

As a part of these activities, we are planning to hold "the Exhibition for Drawings of Wetlands and People’s Life" which exhibits children's paintings on wetlands. We would like children, in particular from Asian countries/regions to paint/draw a picture of scenery, people’s life and living creatures related to wetlands (for example, lakes, marshes, rivers, ice paddies, tidal flats, fishes, crabs, birds, insects, frogs, weeds, fishermen, farmers, children, boats and so on…) with a message for African children and send to RCJ. Size of pictures will be fine from a postcard to A4 (210 mm x 297 mm).

Paintings of children will be on display at "KODOMO Ramsar" and the RCJ booth of COP9 and, and exhibit to participants from all over the world.

If you are scheduled to participate in COP9, bringing as many pictures as possible by yourself to Uganda will be highly appreciated.

As for details, please see attached file [see file below ].

If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We are looking forward to your active cooperation.

With best regards,

Reiko
