Workshop on the Conservation and Wise Use of Wetlands in the Lower Mekong River Basin
Sharing experience on wetland management in the Lower Mekong River Basin
In March 2011, the IUCN Mekong Water Dialogues organized a workshop in Vientiane, Lao PDR that brought together government officials, Ramsar Site managers, NGOs and relevant experts from the Lower Mekong River Basin, to share experience concerning the wise use of wetlands in the region. The workshop sessions covered 7 important topics:
- Session 1: Working with local communities
- Session 2: Management Planning Process
- Session 3: Wetland habitat management and monitoring
- Session 4: CEPA and tourism programs
- Session 5: National inventory of wetlands and their values
- Session 6: National regulations, guidelines and mechanisms
- Session 7: Opportunities for national and regional cooperation
